Waking Up to Romance

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.~ Deuteronomy 6:5

This morning I picture you sleepily opening your eyes to the morning, waking up along with the sun.

Butterflies dance in your stomach as you remember the date you made this morning. With anticipation, you grab your robe and slippers and go into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee and prepare for your rendezvous.

As you curl up in your meeting place, your favorite place, maybe it’s the bright red overstuffed couch, maybe it’s the old wooden porch swing outside, you take a deep breath and prepare your heart for your beautiful romance.  A feeling of excitement and of things yet to come brings a smile to your face as you say good morning to God and spend a few moments just sitting with him in silence on the porch swing.

Then, as you talk to Him about the desires of your heart, you praise Him and thank Him for the joy in your life. And you do have joy in your life, because this morning, He is with you.

Affection wraps you in the assurance of comfort and of protection. Passion awakens your soul and inspires your mind.

You open your bible and read scripture together.

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.~ Song of Solomon 8:6-7

A heart in love with God only desires to love Him more, and therefore bears no room for doubt or deception.

Fall in love.

Enjoy your morning.

Carry God with you throughout the day, and all the rest of your life.

And each morning, wake up to the renewal of love, passion, and God’s everlasting embrace.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. ~ Psalms 90:14

What a sweet romance.
